Sclavi creates art curriculum focusing on cross-curricular solutions for creative practice, community engagement, and transforming innovative contemporary art projects into elementary level art curricula. This year, she won “Most Innovative Curriculum Award for 2012” from the Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia for developing science-based, social practice art lessons for pre-k students. She also wrote 36 STEM to STEAM art lessons for teaching artists to implement with science teachers teaching from the Louisiana science curriculum for Young Audiences of Louisiana.
Sclavi runs professional development workshops for teaching artists on how to write curriculum, implementing STEM to STEAM art lessons, and how to create zine-making workshops. This year, Sclavi was a presenter on curriculum writing and zine workshops at the Young Audiences National Conference in Baltimore, MD.
